Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month (except July and August) at 2:00 p.m.





*** Meeting of 10 October 2011 ***

The meeting was called to order by Commander Richard Floyd at 1405.
There were 15 members present.

Proper opening ceremonies were held.
Roll call of officers - Sgt. at Arms Neville Anderson was absent due to illness.

The Adjutant read the minutes of the 13 September 2011 meeting.

Treasurer Paul Curry presented the treasurers report for this period.
The report was accepted as read.
There were no outstanding bills.

The Commander reported that John Seaman has resigned as Adjutant effective this date.
He appointed Ken Stewart to assume those duties.
Ken will record volunteer hours of members.
The Commander requested that members volunteer for various functions performed by the Chapter.
The Commander reported that a female disabled veteran is need of assistance.
A motion was made to donate $250.00.
The motion was approved.

The Suncoast Feeding Alliance was also looking for donations for this years event.
A motion was made to donate $150.00.
The motion was approved.

The Commander spoke on the property of the late member M.O. Byrnes.
A daughter has submitted a claim against the property.
After discussion, it was voted unanimously for the Chapter to decline any claim to the estate.
The Commander will draft a letter to the attorney’s for the estate to that effect with legal assistance from member Scott Kibler, attorney.

Membership Chairman Archie Gooding reported that the Chapter gained one new member and one transfer into the Chapter.

Chaplain John Seaman reported that 3 members passed away since our last meeting.
They were:
Thomas Booker age 80 of Inverness on 9/10
Eldred Leturno age 89 of Homosassa on 9/14
John Mazeika age 95 of Milton,MA on 8/26 (Nat)


John Seaman also reported on a conversation he had with Kevin Clark at the VA in Gainesville in regards to obtaining the title of the 2002 Ford van we are trying to dispose of. He is the Transportation Coordinator at the facility. Clark said he will advise Seaman of events.

John Seaman brought up the Wreaths Across America program from our last meeting.
A motion was made to purchase 15 wreaths for $225.00 which was approved by the members.

The Commander spoke briefly about Veterans Appreciation events coming up in November and asked for volunteers.

Marvin Godfrey asked if we were going to do anything for the kids for Christmas.
We will look into doing something for children of veterans and requested any ideas from the members.

Gary Williamson said that he will arrange to get 2 dumpsters at the Chapter for a cleanup of the building, shed and grounds. November 1st at 0900 has been selected as the date with Nov. 3rd as a back up date. We will discuss a recycle dumpster for the Chapter sometime after the cleanup.

Being no other business, proper closing ceremonies were held and the meeting was adjourned at 1505.
