Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month (except July and August) at 2:00 p.m.
*** Meeting of 14 June 2011 ***
The meeting was called to order by Commander Richard Floyd at 1400.
There were 18 members present. Proper opening ceremonies were held.
Roll call of officers - all present with the exception of SVC Archie Gooding.
The Adjutant read the minutes of the
10 May 2011 meeting.
The minutes were accepted as read.
Treasurer Paul Curry presented the Treasurers Report for this period.
The report was accepted as read.
Chaplain John Seaman reported that four members passed away since our last meeting.
They were:
Alfred Podolski age 86 of Crystal River on 5 May
Joseph Drasgow age 77 of Crystal River on 19 May
Sterling Hays age 85 of Inverness on 29 May
Henry Bucior age 84 of Palmer, MA. Rpt on 7 Apr.
There were no reports of sickness or distress.
Under correspondence, the Adjutant reported the receipt of the DAV News Service Bulletin dtd May 2011 and
the DAV Membership Bulletin dtd April 30 which were posted on the bulletin board.
The Commander reported that the new DAV van was on the way.
Member Joe Stephens is handling the delivery.
He also reported that there a large quantity of garage sale items in the storage shed and Coalition trailer.
The Auxiliary will sort out the large assortment of clothes and dispose of the items that are not acceptable.
The Adjutant reported that he has received a price quote from Erik Stellmach for our 2011 Citrus County Veterans
Appreciation Commemorative Pin. Neville Anderson was also working on a quote from Hoover Manufacturing, however
was unable to get a reply from the company.
He made a motion to accept the quote from Erik Stellmach.
The motion was seconded and approved by the members.
The pin design and price quote are shown as Encl: 2 to this report..
The Adjutant reported that he has received a Jobs in Florida Bulletin from Work Force.
The bulletin will be posted on the bulletin board.
The Commander reported that the Food Pantry is in operation two days a week from 9 am to 2 pm at this time.
He also reported on the estate of deceased member Milton O. Byrnes.
The attorneys handling the estate have appointed the Commander the DAV representative.
According to the will, the Chapter has been named as the beneficiary of the property and personal effects.
There was a discussion on disability claims and various benefits among the members.
** Prior to the start of the meeting, there was a discussion about having dinner after the meeting.
It was decided to have a luncheon at the Chapter during our September meeting.
There will be no meetings in July or August.
Being no other business, proper closing ceremonies were held and the meeting was adjourned at 1455.
