Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month (except July and August) at 2:00 p.m.
*** Meeting of 12 April 2011 ***
The meeting was called to order by Commander Richard Floyd at 1400.
Proper opening ceremonies were held.
There were sixteen members and one guest present.
Roll call of officers - all present with the exception of Ray Michael who is recovering from surgery and
Joe McClister who is out of town.
The Adjutant read the minutes of the
8 March 2011 meeting.
The minutes were accepted as read.
Treasurer Paul Curry presented the Treasurers Report for this period.
The report was accepted as read.
There were no outstanding bills.
Membership Chairman Archie Gooding reported two new members in attendance.
They were:
Marvin Godfrey transferring from Chapter 52 in Indiana and Robert Kline (also a DAV Driver) transferring from Chapter 96 in
Lake Panasoffkee.
The new members were welcomed aboard.
The Commander introduced guest Eric Persons who is visiting from North Carolina.
Chaplain John Seaman reported that there are four members recovering from various illnesses.
They are: Sterling Hayes, Billie Riley, J.J. Kenney and Ray Michael.
In addition, four members passed away during this period.
They were:
Joseph Kobylarz age 91 of Inverness on 4 April,
David Beckner age 55 of Lecanto rpt by National on 9 Feb.,
Milton O. Byrnes age 89 of Homosassa rpt by National on 9 Feb.
and Dalthard Taylor age 75 of Homosassa Springs.
Services for David Genobles of Inverness who passed away on 3 February will be held on 15 April, 3 PM at Davis
Funeral Home.
The Adjutant read the following correspondence:
1. March DAV News Service - 50th Anniversary of the Viet Nam War,
2. Feb. Membership Bulletin - DAV National Convention August 6 thru 9 and Hickory Farms 15% discount to members and
3. DAV State Convention June 15 thru 19 (see enclosures).
Under New Business:
the Commander reported that an emergency contact notice needed to be posted at the front door.
The members approved one be posted at reasonable cost.
The Commander reported that Joe McClister attended DAV Service Officers School at his own expense.
He also wished to attend both the state and national conventions.
A motion was made to pay him $350.00 for expenses.
The Commander noted that the Veterans Foundation was in need of funds.
The members approved a $100.00 donation (motion by Elwood McElinney).
Nomination Committee member Gary Williamson announced that the committee has recommended a slate of officers for the
2011 - 2012 year.
They are:

Sr. Vice Commander - Archie Gooding,
Jr. Vice Commander - Gary Williamson,
Treasurer - Paul Curry,
Chaplain - John Seaman,
Sgt. At Arms - Neville Anderson.
There were no nominations from the floor.
John Seaman showed the members his design for this years CITRUS County Veterans Appreciation Commemorative Pin.
The design was approved by the members.
The members congratulated Lloyd Rinde on his 84th birthday (April 13).
John Seaman announced that member Bob Kline (No, not the one mention above) has been chosen volunteer of the year at Citrus Memorial Hospital.
Archie Gooding announced that Rolling Thunder Chapter 7 will be attending POW/MIA day at Andersonville, GA. this year.
He explained the "Ride Home" event that sponsors former POWs to attend the event.
The Chapter approved $350.00 to sponsor the event (Elwood McElhinney).
The Commander told the members of the Honor Flight Program that sponsors World War ll veterans to attend the World
War ll memorial in Washington, DC. More information will be obtained by the next meeting.
Russ Gibson announced that the Elks Club in Hernando will be sponsoring a "Veterans Feeding Veterans" program on
June 22 or 29.
The members voted $100.00 to the program.
Joe Stephens announced that the
Annual Gainsville Volunteer Award Ceremony was help Sunday, that he and
Willie Tully, Chapter members, recently received 1,000 hour volunteer pin as van drivers.
Congratulations Joe and Willie!.
That he did not know the hours for Tuesday driver Tom Gallgher, also a Chapter member.
And that Friday driver, Richard Wanke, was at 2,500 hours.
They could still use drivers for the van.
Being no other business, proper closing ceremonies were held and the meeting was adjourned at 1505.
