*** Minutes Meeting of 12 October 2010 ***
The meeting was called to order by commander Richard Floyd at 1410.
There were eleven (11) members present.
Proper opening ceremonies were held.
Roll call of officers - all present or accounted for.
The Adjutant read the minutes of the 14 September 2010 meeting.
The minutes were accepted as read.
Treasurer Paul Curry presented the Treasurers Report for this period.
A question arose over the authority to purchase a new lawn tractor.
After much discussion, the Adjutant was requested to review the Constitution and Bylaws in regards to the Commanders limit on purchases.
Approval of the treasurers report was set aside until the next meeting.
Chaplain John Seaman reported that four (4) members passed away this period.
They were:
Willie Joe Andrews age 89 of Yankeetown on 5 Oct.
James Sheppard Sr. age 69 of Homosassa on 18 Sept.
By National:
Ruth Spence age 82 of Gainesville, FL
Charles Tortorici age 86 of Webster, MA.
There were no reports of sickness.
Membership chairman Archie Gooding reported no new members for this period.
Under correspondence, the Adjutant reported receiving a “Thank You” card from our Sunshine Club recipient, Registration form for Veterans Week activities, Notice of the Veterans Forum on 23 October and a letter fFrom DAV Dept. of FL Area II Committee Chairman Bobby Parker.
Under new business, John Seaman made a motion to present a plaque to Sandy Cross of Inverness Primary School for her promotion of Veterans Week activities at the school and to donate one hundred dollars (100) to the schools veterans programs. Both motions were unanimously approved.
He also reported that more than 425 Commemorative Pins have been sold for $900.00+.
He also requested volunteers for the Margarita Grill- Oct. 22 or 29, the Crystal River Mall on Nov. 6, Parade on Nov. 11 and the Golden Corral on Nov. 13, 14 & 15.
The Commander also requested volunteers for our yard sale on Oct. 22 & 23.
The commander displayed military posters donated to the Chapter and recommended having them framed and displayed in the Chapter. A motion was made and approved for an approximate cost of $106.00
The Commander requested volunteers to clean up the building prior to election day - cleanup will be Tuesday October 26 at 0900.
The Commander said that we still have a/c discount certificates from Bay Area a/c.
A possible donation of some of the certificates to needy veterans was mentioned.
A Christmas Party was proposed by the Auxiliary.
The Chapter voted to pay for the meat portion of the event.
Our yearly donation to the Family Resource Center was brought up.
A motion was made & approved to fund four (4) children at $50.00 each as we have done in previous years.
A Forget Me Not drive was mentioned but due to the lack of volunteers it is not feasible at this time.
A box of Forget Me Nots will be purchased for the Mall and Golden Corral and future events.
The parade event was brought up again.
Al Hayes said he would drive his truck.
Gary Williamson was asked to have the Civil Air Patrol carry our colors.
Being no other business, proper closing ceremonies were held and the meeting was adjourned at 1525.
