Minutes Meeting of April 13, 2010

Prior to the regular meeting, a fire safety lecture was presented by Mr. Jack Hanson of Residential Safety Watch.

The monthly meeting was called to order by Commander Richard Floyd at 1445.
There were fifteen members present.
Proper opening ceremonies were held.
Roll call of officers - all present or accounted for.

The Adjutant read the minutes of the 9 March 2010 meeting.
The minutes were accepted as read.

Treasurer Paul Curry presented the Treasurers Report for this period.
The Report was accepted as read.

Chaplain John Seaman reported that four members have passed away.
They were:
Clarence Brown age 88 of Homosassa on 4/3/10,
Bernard Chartier age 88 of Tupper Lake, NY on 2/2/10,
Dallas Daily age 85 of Hernando on 3/31/10
and Joseph Giuffre age 90 of Beverly Hills on 4/15/10.

Membership Chairman Archie Gooding reported that we gained six new members this period.
They were:
Robert Laney of Inverness,
Kamisha Nelson of Hernando,
William Emond of Citrus Springs,
Jimmy Smith of Inverness,
Joe Stephens of Citrus Springs
and Gregg Beggs

The Adjutant read various correspondence sent to the chapter.
The items were placed on the bulletin board.
The Adjutant read a letter sent to VFW Post 7122 by the commander and Adjutant in regards to the DAV van purchase procedures.
The Adjutant announced that the scholarship committee selected Evan Marshall as the recipient of our 2010 scholarship award of $1,000.00.
The Adjutant displayed two designs submitted for this years commemorative Pin.
They were the World War II Victory Medal and the Ruptured Duck, both with American Flag backgrounds in the shape of Citrus County.
Several other designs were proposed however the Ruptured Duck design eventually selected.

First nomination of officers for the 2010/2011 year were held.
They were:
Richard Floyd - Commander,
Archie Gooding - Sr. Vice Comdr,
John Skjefte - Jr. Vice Comdr,
Paul Curry - Treasurer,
John Seaman - Chaplain
and Neville Anderson - Sgt at Arms.

Under other business, Joe Stephens spoke on DAV van procedures and operations.
The future of the existing van was also discussed.

Richard Hunt discussed the possibility of a fund raiser with the Tag Office with DAV plates.
Several ideas were proposed and Neville Anderson was selected to chair the committee.
Neville Anderson also proposed establishing a franchise with Sunsetter Awnings.
Additional information will be forthcoming.

The commander announced that the Marine Corp League will be having a pig roast at the chapter on Saturday may 1st starting at 1400.

Being no other business, proper closing ceremonies were held and the meeting was adjourned at 1543.
