DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 14 October 2003
Commander Bill Geden called, the meeting to order at 2:10 PM.
There were 14 members present,

Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer.
The Commander led the members in the Plwdge of Allegience.
The Adjutant read the roll call of officers,

The Adjutant read the
minutes of the 9 September 2005 meeting.
The minutes were approved as read.
Treasurers Report: Treasurer Charles Huelsmann presented the Treasurers Report for the month of
September 2005 as well as bills against the chapter for this period.
The treasurers report and bills were approved as read. (see encl: 3)

Chaplains Report:
Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that one member has passed away since our last meeting.
Edward Lindsey, age 79 of Inverness on 11 October 2003

Old/Unfinished Business:
The Adjutant passed out sign-up sheets for the various events of Veterans Appreciation Week.
Termite Treatment - A representative of Bray Pest Control inspected our property and found termites in our
foundation and storage building. The estimate for treatment was $700.00 and a five year inspection contract was
available for $75.00 a year.
The total package was approved by the membership, (see encl: 4)

The Adjutant announced that special discount sales tickets were available at Belks Dept. Store on November 1st.
Further information was made available from the County Veterans Affairs Office in regard to relief for veteran
John Norman.
In light of the information, relief was not approved.
The chapter members were advised of the 5th District meeting at New Port Richey on 19 October.

New Business & Correspondence:
The Commander requested, the purchase of 500 magnetic calenders for the year 2004 at 0.90 each.
The calenders will be similar as those that were purchased for this year.
A motion was made for the purchase, seconded and approved by the membership.
The Commander requested the purchase of 500 Veterans Appreciation Week commemorative pins at a cost of $1.22 each
(plus s&h).
The pin design was shown to the members. (ibid: no copy with the notes - so no link)
A motion to accept the design and purchase the pins was made, seconded and approved by the membership.
The Adjutant read a letter from Consulate of France in regards to a certificate being offered for those who served
in French territory during 1944-45. Anyone thought to be eligible to contact the adjutant after the meeting.
The Adjutant read a news release from the CCVSO that WW2 veterans who earned the CIB or CMB were eligible for the
Bronze Star Medal. Those eligible may contact the service office for additional information.
The Adjutant read a memo from DAV National about changes to the National Constitution, Bylaws and Regulations
adopted at the 82nd National Convention. Only one copy of the new bylaws was received by the chapter.
The Adjutant stated that he has orered 12 additional copies and recommended that a committee be formed to review
the bylaws and make recommendations as necessary for revising chapter bylaws.
After some discussion, the subject will be reviewed at future meetings.
The Adjutant read a letter from the Citrus County chapter of the Blind Americans, Inc. requesting a donation for
their building fund. A motion to donate $100.00 was made, seconded and approved after a brief discussion.
The Commander informed the members of the Chapters participation in the dedication ceremonies at Citrus Health &
Rehab. Those present were Commander Bill Geden, Treasurer Charles Huelsmann, Service Officer Prank Bachteler and
Adjutant John Seaman, and Louis Sweatman. The Auxiliary was represented by Commander Ann Cope, Sr. Vice Cmdr. Nancy
Geden and Shirley Callahan.
The Adjutant reviewed the sign-up sheets for Vets Week and the Golden Corral and advised that additional help would
needed in order to meet our goals.

The Commander distributed 2004 calenders complements of the Blinded Veterans.
The Adjutant reminded the members of the 5th District meeting on Sunday, October 19th at New Port Richey.
The Adjutant reminded the members that the next meeting will be on the third Tuesday in November due to the Veterans
Week activities - Nov. 18th.
The Members were also advised that this would be a District 5 visitation.
A joint meeting was held with the auxiliary to discuss arrangements for the visitation.
After a brief discussion the members decided to have a late luncheon at the Golden Corral after the meeting.
Frank Bachteler as district 5 Sr. Vice Comdr will advise District of the schedule.
Frank will also make arangements with the Golden Corral.
9 O'clock services were held.
Amotion to adjourn was made and approved.
