DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 18 November 2003
Commander Bill Geden called, the meeting to order at 2:10 PM.
There were 24 members and. guests present,

Chaplain Wayne Stilts led. the group in prayer.
The Commander led the group in the Pledge of Allegience.
The Adjutant read the roll call of officers,

The Commander had the visitors introduce themselves.
The Adjutant read the
minutes of the 14 October 2005 meeting.
The minutes were approved as read.
Treasurers Report:
Treasurer Charles Huelsmann presented the treasurers report for the month of October 2005 as well as bills against
the chapter for this period.
The report also included, proceeds from the Forget Me Not drive Golden Corral and commemorative pin sale.
The Treasurers Report and bills were approved as read. (Frank, Agostino)

Chaplains Report:
Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that two members have passed away since our last meeting.
They were Charles White age 80 of Jacksonville
and Leonard Cianciarull age 82 of Homosassa.
Communications:
The Adjutant read the correspondence sent to the chapter for this period which included:
DAV Membership Bulletin dated Aug. 31,
Citrus County Sheriffs Office memo dated Nov. 3,
KWJVA letter regarding new VA clinic for Citrus County,
American Legion Post 225 letter requesting funding for Boys State,
State DAV letter dated Sept. 16 - Service Officer Seminar/Mid-Winter Conference
and a letter from Prank Strang of Dunnellon.

Old/Unfinished Business:
The Adjutant displayed newspaper articles on members Doug Robinson and Frank Bachteler. Dougs article was about his
time as a POW in Korea and Pranks article was about our participation at the Golden Corral.
The Adjutant reminded the members of our annual support for children thru the Family Resource Center.
Frank Bachteler made a motion to once again support six children at $50.00 each for this year.
The motion was seconded and approved by the membership.

New Business:
The Adjutant advised, the members of the ongoing requests for estimates for repairs and upgrades to the building.
They were as follows:
soffit screen replacement - $250.00.
The Adjutant recommended that additional quotes be obtained for aluminum soffit & fascia as a more permanent and
maintenance free solution.
The members were in agreement with this proposal.
Additional quotes will be obtained by the Adjutant.
Door Replacement - $260.00 for front doors plus $240.00 labor.
$90.00 each for the side and rear door. $120.00 each for labor.
The quotes were for prehung steel doors. A discussion was held in regards to fiberglass doors and horizontal bar
door openers. The Adjutant said he would look into the door opener requirements and opened the floor to anyone
who would like to get door estimates.
Backsplash Tile for kitchen - The Adjutant obtained a quote for the amount of $183.60 for tile in the kitchen
between the backsplash and the bottom of the wall cabinets. ($150.00 & $55.60 materials.)
A motion to accept the tile proposal with a cost not to exceed $200.00 was made seconded and approved by the membership.VV
In other business, the Commander made flag presentations to Frank Bachteler and Ward Cady for their contributions to
the DAV.
In other business, the Adjutant stated that American Legion Post 77 would like to buy our BINGO equipment.
He stated that he offered the old BINGO equipment to them for free but their representative Ward Cady was not
interested in that system.
After short discussion, Ward Cady he would come back with an offer for our newer BINGO equipment.
In other business, the members approved the transfers of Randy L. Dostal from Chapter 48 in Wisconsin and
Aigostino LoPorto from Chapter 2 in New York.
The Commander requested the purchase of 500 additional Veterans Apprec. Week pins. 100 of the pins would be to
replace the ones he had previously purchased and were sold by the chapter.
No action was taken.
The Adjutant announced that he had obtained a copy of the 2005 edition of "Federal Benefits for Veterans and Benefits"
for the members use.
The Adjutant read a veterans legislation report from Congresswoman Ginny Brown—Waite.
The Adjutant pointed out an error in the report on concurrent receipt.

Good of the Order:
The Chapter heard from Area 3 Committeeman Grady Broussard on various interests to the members.
Grady talked about the annual visit to the spinal cord ward at Tampa VA Hospital.
This years visit will be on December 10th.
A motion was made to donate $100.00 to the cause.

The members also heard from District Chaplain Bob Auchu and former Distict Commander John Hoyou.
9 O'clock services were held.
A motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved.
A late luncheon was held at the Golden Corral for members and guests.
