DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of
11 March 2003
The regular monthly meeting of DAV Chapter 70 was held March 11, 2003.
Past Commander Frank Bachteler called the meeting to order at 2 PM.
There were 11 members present.
Opening ceremony: Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer, and Past Commander Bachteler led the
members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Roll call of officers: Commander Bill Geden, excused;
Sr. Vice Commander John Skjefte, excused;
Jr. Vice Commander Jose Camacho, present;
Treasurer Charles Huelsmann present;
Chaplain Wayne Stilts, present;
Sgt. at Arms Doug Robinson, present;
Service Officer, Frank Bachteler, present;
Adjutant John Seaman, excused;
and Judge Advocate, Frank Bachteler present.
A quorum was present.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: The
minutes were read by Frank Bachteler.
The minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Charles Huelsmann gave the treasurer's report.
The treasurer's report is included as an attachment.
Motion by Doug Robinson was seconded by Walter Gamblin and approved.

Sickness and Distress: Sickness and Distress report was given by Chaplain Stilts.
Deceased members are:
Robert Lebert, Inverness, age 70, Feb. 11, 2003;
George DePina, Floral City, age 76, Feb 18, 2003;
Elmer Kaufinan, Homosassa, age 82, Feb. 23, 2003;
Steven Ogle, Dunnellon, age 53, Feb 27, 2003;
Ira Langenmayr, Crystal River, age 85, Mar. 2, 2003;
and Frank Bafaro, Homosassa, age 83, Mar. 7, 2003.
Communications: Past Commander Bachteler read a letter from Robert Kline which referenced a
Fifth District meeting scheduled for May 18, 2003, 12 noon.
Cost of dinner is five dollars.
May 14th deadline for reservations to call Chapter 96 Commander.
Feb. To May activity reports, and the election of officers are part of the agenda.
A thank you note from the Family Resource Center in behalf of the children receiving Christmas gifts was read.
Correspondence from Representative Ginny Brown-Waite which portrayed her concerns with veterans' health care
issues was shared with the members.
She is a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee and responded to our letters sent in regard to H.R. 58.
Reports: No reports were given for Membership, Legislative, or Service Officer.
Unfinished business: Contribution to Young Marines.
Jim Danek stated a proposal to donate $200 to the Nature Coast Young Marines to assist in the purchase of uniforms
for those who could not afford them.
After a discussion the motion was tabled in regard to the donation in order to check the financial records for the
past year to determine the extent of the contributions.
Jim Danek made a motion to table, seconded by Jose Camacho, and carried.
The motion was revised to make the contribution equal to both Young Marine groups.
New Business : No new business.
Moment of Silence: A moment of silence was observed for our fallen comrades.
Good of the Order: Nothing was brought before the meeting.
Motion to adjourn: Motion to adjourn by Jim Danek, seconded by Wayne Stilts, and carried
Closing ceremony: Salute to the flag and the closing prayer by Chaplain Wayne Stilts.
50/50 drawing: Ten dollars to the general fond.
