DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 9 October 2001
Commander Frank Bachteler called the meeting to order at 2 PM.
The meeting was preceeded by a luncheon arranged by the auxiliary.
There were 14 members and 14 guests in attendance.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members and guests in prayer.
The Commander led the members and guests in the Pledge of Allegience.
The Adjutant read the roll call of officers, (see encl: 1)
The Commander introduced the visitors and guests, (see encl: 2)
There was no Treasurers Report due to the absence of treasurer Ken Thomas.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that there was no report of sickness or distress.
Communications: The adjutant read the communications sent to the Chapter since the last meeting which included;
Citrus County Family Resource Ietter,
notice of DAV 5th District meeting. National membership bulletin dated 8/31,
testimonial dinner invitation,
POW/MIA letter and Golden Corral letter.
Committee Reports: There were no committee reports.
Old/Unfinished Business: Adjutant Seaman listed the events for Veterans Appreciation Week and asked for volunteers
and for someone to serve as chairman for the Forget Me Not Drive.
No one volunteered to be chairman.
The Forget Me Not drive will be held on 27 October and 2 November 2001.
Adjutant Seaman will provide form letters to the various businesses for the drive.
New Business; John Cope made a motion to donate $50.00 to Violet Newsom.
The motion was seconded by Doug Robinson and approved by the membership.

The Commander called for a moment of silence for our fallen comades.

Good of the Order: M. O. Byrnes brought up improvements to the well system in order to get it approved for
commercial use. After much discussion, a motion to combine well improvements and kitchen upgrades was made,
seconded and approved by the membership.
Bingo was also discussed but no one volunteered to be chairman.
Guests Bob Auchu, Grady Broussard, John McCoy and Paul Clamp spoke about various topics of interests to veterans.
District Commander Paul Clamp reminded the members of the district meeting on 21 October in New Port Richey.
Bob Kline asked the chapter to support John Hoyou who is running for District Jr. Vice Commander at a special
election at the district meeting.
Doug Robinson made a motion to donate $100.00 to the Veterans United fund.
The motion was seconded by M. O. Byrnes and passed by the membership.
Grady Broussard said that the Veterans United group will meet at Ryans Restaurant in Tampa the second Wednesday
in December and then proceed to the Tampa VA Hospital for presentation of gifts.
9 O'clock services were held for our departed comrades.
A motion to adjourn was made by M. O. Byrnes, seconded by Doug Robinson and approved by the membership.
50/50 drawings were held.
$27.00 to the chapters general fund.
