DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 8 May 2001

Commander Jim Danek called the meeting to order at 2 PM.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members and quests in prayer.
The Commander led the members and quests in the Pledge of Allegience.

The Commander introduced the quests (see end # 1 for list).

The Adjutant read the roll call of officers (see end. 2).

The Adjutant read the minutes of the 10 April 2001 meeting and a letter to the DAY Dept. of Florida requesting approval of Chapter 139 to merge into Chapter70.
The minutes were approved as read.

Chaplains Report: Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that Life Member Michael Triano passed away on 24 April 2001.

Commander Danek suspended all other chapter business in order to conduct final nominations and election of chapter officers for the oncoming year.

The Adjutant read the list of nominations from the 10 April meeting:
Commander - Frank Bachteler
Treasurer - Ken Thomas
Sr. Vice Commander - Tom Delano
Chaplain - Wayne Stilts
Jr. Vice Commander - Jim Danek
Sgt at Arms - John Cope
John Cope withdrew his name for Sgt at Arms and nominated Doug Robinson.
Commander Danek opened the floor for any additional nominations.
Hearing none, a motion was made by Bob Lebert to close elections and for the Adjutant to cast a unanimous vote for those nominated.
The motion was seconded by Ernie Gonzales and passed by the membership.

Commander Danek asked Fifth District Commander Ralph Schoehnlein to swear in the newly elected officers.
Proper ceremonies were performed by Commander Soehnlein and his staff.

John Cope was honored by Bob Kline and Ralph Soehnlein for his years of service to the chapter.

Jim Danek thanked the members for their support during the passed year.

The 50/50 drawings were held.
There were four winners.
$21.00 went to the general fund.

With no further business to come before the meeting, the commander adjourned the meeting.

There were no closing ceremonies.
