DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 9 January 2001

Commander Jim Danek called, the meeting to order at 2:05 PM.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer.
The Commander led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

There was no joint meeting with the Auxiliary.

The Adjutant read the roll call of officers, (see enclosure #1 Page 3).

The Adjutant read the minutes of the 12 December 2000 meeting.
The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurers Report: Treasurer Frank Bachteler gave the treasurers report for the month of December, (see enclosure #2 Page 4).
A motion was made by Ben Iler to approve the treasurers report, seconded by Doug Robinson and passed by the members.

Chaplains Report: Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that one member passed away since the last meeting.
Roland Duquette of Naugatuck, CT.
The death was reported by National.

Guests: There was one guest present; Walter Wade of CH. 1 in S. Dakota.

Communications: Adjutant John Seaman read the communications sent to the chapter this period, which included information on the disabled veterans memorial, national membership memo did 11/30/00, state news-letter and national service bulletin - National Commanders Awards.

Membership Committee; Chairman John Cope read the names of new members from the National Membership Report of 30 Nov. 2000.
Members Nick Pappas and Jose Camacho said they contacted several new members from the 31 October list.
They said that they would attend this meeting.
None were present.
Walter Wade's request to transfer into the chapter was approved by the membership.

Old Business: None

New Business: Commander Danek said he received information about the Viet Nam Wall Memorial, however nothing about the chapters participation.
Commander Danek said that the Auxiliary urgently needs volunteers to help out at their garage sales.

continue this event.

Adjutant Seaman brought the members up to date on the status of CH. 139

Sr. Vice Cmdr, John Cope brought up that information being conveyed to members may be misleading.
A DAV member contacted Adjutant Seaman about transportation to the Gainesville VA hospital.
It was his understanding that because he was a member of the Commanders Club, the DAV will provide him transportation as needed to the VA hospital.
Cmdr. Cope said that National should be made aware that they are misleading members.
Cmdr. Danek will consider drafting a letter to National.

Ben Iler said he was going to Gainesville next Tuesday and offered a ride to anyone interested.
Jose Camacho said he was going up there Thursday and offered a ride to anyone interested.

9 O'clock services were held.

A motion to adjourn was made by Doug Robinson, seconded by Ben Iler and approved by the membership.

50/50 drawings. Won by Frank Bachteler and Doug Robinson.
$12.00 to the general fund.
