DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 13 February 2001

Commander Jim Danek called the meeting to order at 2:05 PM.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer.
The Commander led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

There was no joint meeting with the Auxiliary.

The Adjutant read the roll call of officers (see enclosure * #1 Page 3). The Adjutant read the minutes of the 9 January 2001 meeting.
The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurers Report: Treasurer Frank Bachteler gave the treasurers report for the month of January 2001.(see enclosure #2 Page 4).
A motion to approve the report was made by John Cope, seconded by Doug Robinson and passed by the members.

Chaplains Report; Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that one member passed away since the last meeting.
George Callahan of Inverness.
Al Merrill announced the loss of auxiliary member Jean Jeffery.

Guests: There were two guests present: Bill Geden of New Jersey and Mack Armitage of Chapter 110.

Communications; Adjutant John Seaman read the communications sent to the chapter this period which included:
Saturn of New Port Richey sales promo.,
Tricare Fact Sheet-Tricare Eligibility,
Notice of DAV 5th district meeting on 18 Feb. at Ch. 67 in Brooksville,
DAV 2001 Legislative Program,
Military Honors for funerals info kit,
Viet Wall Memorial info.
Notice of DAV Mid Winter Conference March 11-14 in Arlington, VA.,
DAV Golf Tournament at MacDill AFB May 20.

Membership Committee; Chairman John Cope read the names of new members from the National Membership Report of 31 Dec. 2000.

Mack Armitage's request to transfer into the chapter was approved by the membership.

Old Business: A motion was made by Bob Lebert to donate $150.00 to the auxiliary from the Bingo profits.
The motion was seconded by Al Merrill and passed by the members.

New Business: The Commander announced, that the Executive Board approved a $150.00 donation for funeral exspenses to the family of Jean Jeffery.

The Commander "brought up the matter of repairs to the chapter building.
He will get bids on replacing the doors.

Frank Bachteler informed the membership of SECO's Pennies From Haven program.
Frank made the motion to adopt the program.
It was seconded by Ben Iler and approved by the membership.

Commander Danek said he was pleased by the initial response of donations by members to the chapter for building repairs.
He said he would seek additional funds from businesses in the community.

Adjutant John Seaman announced that the cost of mailing the news letter has increased from 14¢ to 25¢ per letter.
Al Merrill made a motion to restart the Booster Program for the news-letter.
The motion was seconded by Doug Robinson and approved by the membership.
The Commander said that he would seek advertisers for the newsletter.
Adjutant Seaman also encouraged members to help out with the newsletter.

9 O'clock services were held in honor of our recently fallen comrades.

A motion to adjourn was made by Al Merrill, seconded by Doug Robinson and approved by the membership.

50/50 drawings won by Al Merrill and Bob Lebert. $25.00 to the general fund.
