DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 10 October 2000

The regular meeting was proceeded, by a luncheon starting at 1 PM.
Commander Jim Danek called the meeting to order at 2 P.M.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer.

The Commander led the members in the pledge of allegiance.
The Adjutant read the roll call of officers, (see muster sheet)
The guests for the District Visitation were introduced, (see encl.)
The Adjutant read the minutes of the 12 Sept. 2000 meeting.
Minutes approved as read.

Their was no treasurers report.

Chaplain's Report: Chaplain Wayne Stilts reported that two member passed away:
Ray Baker and Ron Klock, both of Hernando

Communications: none

Old Business: The commander briefly discussed the events of Veterans Appreciation Week.
The adjutant listed the locations for the Forget Me Not drive.
The commander passed out a sign-up sheet for the events.

New Business: District Commander Ralph Soehnlein announced that a new VA clinic has opened in Zepher Hills.
Winona Eastin announced that Ch. 67 in Brooksville will be offering flu shots on 24 & 25 October.
State Chaplain Bob Auchu outlined active legislation concerning veterans.
Jean Jeffery briefly discussed Bingo. She recommended a non-smoking bingo with an additional 5 to 4 breaks between games.
She also called for volunteers to work bingo. Jose Camacho and Frank Bachteler volunteered to help.

Past Fifth District Commander Bob Kline announced that Chapter 67 in Brooksvile will have VA Service Officer available at their Chapter on 24 October. He also mentioned the flu shots on the 24th and 25th. He also mentioned that chapter 67 will be having a Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday November 1st. All members invited

District Commander Ralph Soehnlein announced that Area Commiteman Grady Broussard was ill and unable to attend today but sent his best wishes to the chapter.

Fifth District Sr. Vice Commander Paul Clamp announced that he is running for District Commander next year and asked for our chapters support.

District Commander Ralph Soehnlein thanked the chapter for our newsletter and donated $5.OO to the booster fund.

A discussion was held about the Sea Cadet program.

9 O'clock services were held.
John Cope made a motion to adjourn, it was seconded by Frank Bachteler and passed by the members.
