DAV Chapter 70
Meeting of 14 November 2000
Commander Jim Danek called the meeting to order.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer. The Commander led the members
in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Joint Meeting: The Commander advised the Auxiliary that a breakdown on Bingo has not been performed yet.
Ann Cope brought up are participation in a donation to the Family Resource Center for Christmas.
The Commander said it will be brought up under new business and we will co-ordinate with the auxiliary
afterwards.
Joint meeting adjourned.
The Adjutant read the roll call of officers. (See enclosure * #1 Page 3)
The Adjutant read the minutes of the 10 October meeting.
Minutes approved as read.
Treasurers Report: Due to the resignation of Olon Gough as Treasurer, Al Merrill gave the chapter a monthly
breakdown from 1 July 2000 to present.
As of 31 October, the chapter has total net assets of $69,169.59.
That includes a total of $7,252.06 in checking.
The checking account breakdown is $1,816.78 in the Forget Me Not fund and $6,455.98 in the general fund.
A motion was made by John Cope to approve the treasurers report, seconded by Doug Robinson and passed by the members.
Chaplains Report: No reports of sickness or distress.
Commmunications: The Adjutant advised the members that the Salvation Army was looking for volunteers for the holidays.
Anyone interested to contact Don Weaver at 860-1558.
Membership: John Cope presented the names of three DAV members desiring to transfer into the chapter.
They are: Charles R. Hohl of Beverly Hills and Louis E. Sweatman and John A. Kaiserian of Hernando.
A motion to accept was made by Doug Robinson, seconded by Jose Camacho and approved by the members.
Old Business: The Commander briefly discussed Bingo funds for the Auxiliary, no determination at this time.
Hopefully we will have some thing by next meeting.

We will also look into the Sea Cadet program and determine participation
at a future date.
New Business: The Commander announced that Olon Gough has resigned as Treasurer.
Nominations for a new Treasurer were opened at this time.
John Cope nominated Frank Bachteler.
Seconded by Buck Newsome.
There were no other nominations.
A vote was taken and Frank Bachteler was unanimously elected Treasurer.
The oath of office was administered by Adjutant John Seaman.
The Commander announced that Frank Bachteler will also be serving on the advisory committee for the
Korean War memorial at Inverness Elementry School.
The Commander briefly discussed our Veterans Appreciation Week activities and thanked all those who participated.
A brief discussion was held about the conflict with other veterans organizations during our Forget Me Not drive.
We will try to co-ordinate with them in the future.
The Commander brought up this years donation to the Family Resource Center.
A motion was made by Doug Robinson to sponsor 6 children, $50.00 each for a total of $300.00 this year.
The motion was seconded by Al Merrill and passed by the members.
It was agreed to sponsor 3 boys and 3 girls in the 4 to 8 age group.
Volunteers will make the purchases at WAL-MART upon completion of the newsletter on 5 December.
The adjutant will write a letter to the store manager informing him of our intentions.
The Commander also asked for volunteers for the newsletter on the 5th of December at 0900.
The Commander outlined his plans for approaching businesses in the community for donations to the chapter.
Would like to put together some information for the businesses to let them know what we do in the communnity.
Adjutant will call Al Linden for guidelines.
9 O'clock service was held.
Motion made to adjourn, seconded and passed.
Joint meeting follow up. Auxiliary will also sponsor 3 kids. Will handle arrangements with Family Resource Center.
