DAV Chapter 70
Minutes of 12 December 2000
Sr. Vice Commander John Cope called, the meeting to order at 2 PM.
Chaplain Wayne Stilts led the members in prayer.
Adjutant John Seaman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
There was no joint meeting.
The Adjutant read the roll call of officers, (see enclosure * #1)
The Adjutant read the minutes of the 14 November meeting.
The minutes were approved as read.
Treasurers Report: Treasurer Frank Bachteler gave the treasurers report for the month of November.

Chaplains Report; Chaplain Wayne Stilts announced that one member passed away since last meeting:
Merrill McGlamery of Dunnellon, 11/19/00.
Service Officers Report:
Bob Lebert reported on the Korean War Medal, Cold War Certificates and the Inverness VA Clinic.
Communications:
Adjutant John Seaman read communications sent to the chapter this period which included:
Tricare Info: options, Tricare contractors,
2. Veterans Appreciation Week certificate,
3. Salute to Freedom activities in Ocala on Jan. 27-2001
4. Citrus Sertoma sponsor-ship of the Viet Nam Wall presentation for February 2001.
5. DAV National membership memo dated 31 Oct. 2000 - also update of bylaws and regulations.
Treasurers Report (actually reported in this sequence)
A motion was made by Al Merrill to approve the treasurers report, seconded by Doug Robinson and passed by the members.
Membership Committee:
Chairman John Cope read the names of nine new members from the National Membership Report dated 31 Oct. 2000.
From that list, Nickolas Pappas of Floral City was present and welcomed aboard by the membership.
Chairman Cope presented transfer applications from Richard Floyd and John Sabol of Inverness.
A motion was made by Al Merrill to approve, seconded by Doug Robinson and approved by the membership.
It was noted that there 15 members present for the meeting.

Old Business: Cmdr. Cope noted, that the purchase of gifts for children
for the Family Resource Center had been made and delivered and thanked
all those who participated.
Cmdr. Cope mentioned that the Resource Center was in the need of sponsorship for 50 children.
New Business: Al Merrill noted that in order for us to restart Bingo
we need volunteers.
Al offered that he would train anyone interested in operating the Bingo machine, proceedures and paperwork.
He stated that we need a chairman, co-chairman and workers in order to get started;
He said he would go over neccessary reports with the Treasurer.
Cmdr. Cope asked for volunteers to call new members and invite them to chapter meetings.
Jose Camacho and Mickolas Pappas volunteered to assist.
John Cope and Al Merrill urged members to come forward and volunteer to participate in chapter activities.
9 O'clock services were held.
A motion to adjourn was made by Doug Robinson, seconded by Bob Lebert and approved by the membership.
